Letter to the European Commission: Call on the European Commission to step up in financing for biodiversity

14. Dezember 2022

Brussels, 14 December 2022,
Letter to the European Commission: Call on the European Commission to step up in financing for biodiversity

The world’s ecosystems are suffering from an unprecedented biodiversity loss. The 2022 Living Planet Report by World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) documents a 69 percent decline in the wildlife populations of mammals, birds, amphibians, reptiles and fish, across the globe in the last 50 years.

As the world is watching COP15, hoping for an ambitious and transforming Global Biodiversity Framework for 2030, we are convinced that our Union should step up to act as a global leader for protecting biodiversity. We are hopeful for strong commitments and results from COP15.

Please find attached our letter calling on the European Commission to step up the financing of global commitments in order for the EU to become a leader in financing measures against the loss of biodiversity. (You can download the letter here)
